About the
A r t i s t
Keith is a Honolulu based artist. His art career began under the keen eyes of parents who secured his first painting class in a neighborhood garage. He learned to paint seascapes, forest shading old barns, birds in flight…compositions resembling the works of TV painter Bob Ross.
His interest in art grew to become curious nourishment that inspired him to enter collage. Easels and representation gave way to found objects and stitched canvases bearing marks of a fondness for human anatomy and behavior twisted into organic forms.
Undergraduate work fueled an urge to make things big, and his art grew from drawing and painting to include sculpture and installation. Subsequent travel, an MFA and living abroad nurtured his interest in diversity, nature, perception and science. Inspiring art hybrids between plants and animals to evolve into chimeras of multiple species.
His work continues to blend species and other attributes found or felt in nature as a way to explore the synergy between art, environment, biology and consciousness.
For Keith, body and mind are not separate from nature. They are natural “tools” that inform human consciousness and help navigate relationships between what is outside of our body, as well as what lies within. He sees art and line as extensions of this tool that aids him in understanding natural relationships.
